F.A.Q.

Frequently asked questions for Gaylord Guitars:

Where are your guitars made?

We make each guitar by hand in our Florida, U.S.A. wood shop.

What woods do you use and where do you source from?

We use kiln dried woods of many species sourced from U.S.A. based suppliers. Most wood is selected as raw billets and cut to measure in our shop with the occasional pre-cut and glued blanks from suppliers focused on service to instrument builders. Rarely, but possibly, we will buy a guitar body and refinish it. All of our necks are made from scratch by us.

What hardware and pickups can I choose for my custom build?

Gaylord Guitars buys pickups, electronic components and hardware like bridges and tuners from any reputable source, with mostly U.S.A. direct sales or distribution. For our Ready-to-buy and small batch builds, we use Hipshot, Gotoh, Grover, Fender, CTS, WD, DiMarzio, Seymour Duncan, Dylan Talks Tone and Stewmac. We are open to using any options that will help achieve your dream guitar.

How do I know if my custom built guitar will sound good?

Our passion is to create only great playing and sounding guitars. We are players with at least 30 years of experience as live and recording musicians. We condition the finish and achieve a ‘played in’ feel on our necks/fingerboards, use thin paint applications and trusted hardware. These details and good setup principals achieve a balanced and articulate sound.

What happens if I don’t love the guitar, don’t bond with it once I have it in my hands for a while?

We want every player to have the guitar that elevates their joy of playing. If you don’t bond with it, Gaylord Guitars Trade -up / Exchange Program allows for original purchasers to trade-in their unmodified custom built or read-to ship Gaylord guitar within the first six months of the original purchase date. Some fees and terms apply and can be found on our warranty page or by contacting us via email.

How quickly can I receive my engraved items?

Do you perform all of your work in-house or do you outsource to foreign factories?

We perform all of the engraving, print pressing, woodwork and finishing at our Florida workshop. DTF prints for apparel come from a U.S. printer and we source most raw materials and engravable goods from U.S. based wholesalers or manufacturers. We have a “U.S.A. first” policy, partnering with as many U.S. based vendors and manufacturers, as possible.

I am interested in creating my own product bundle for my clients, can Gaylord Engravers let me fully customize and support my brand?

Yes. We specialize in helping other businesses and consultants create custom merch and gift packages that carry your brand, QR codes, logos and flare. We use blanks that allow complete customization and can even enclose your items in custom packaging. Inquire for complete details.
